What started as a glass of wine at the Spoke Club turned into an evening of non-stop, work-sponsored drinking. I shouldn’t check my email when I’ve had drinks. Regrettable drunken emails are far too easy to send. But I do check them. And last night when I drunkenly checked my inbox at 1:43am I saw there was an email from Rogers Cable.
However it took a sober read this morning for me to actually get what they were proposing.
Instead of 6 half hour shows, they’re proposing 6 interstitials. 6, one-minute, comedy interviews. I was disappointed at first – what no show? But then I thought about it some more. I’d get to put together a production crew, I’d get to produce, host and write (though how much writing goes into unscripted interviews?). I’d get access to professional equipment. And I’d get to use their editing software (I think they use AVID) to put each interstitial together.
It’s what I wanted to do, but on a much smaller scale. It’s a way to test the waters without worrying about drowning. I mean, I’d still like to put together a show, regardless of whether or not Rogers is interested. But these interstitials are kind like having a sip of wine before downing the bottle.
